SIGHTSEEING TOUR FULL OF ADRENALINE
One of the world’s biggest marathons takes place in Berlin every year. The course is considered flat and breathtakingly fast and therefore attracts runners, skaters and wheelchair athletes from 120 nations to the German capital to run the 42.195 km course along Berlin’s iconic landmarks. A gigantic crowd of around one million cheering spectators will accompany the route to cheer the athletes on their way. In this special setting, world records are often broken and marathon stars have the opportunity to set their personal best times.
APA has been an integral part of this mega event for almost 30 years, skillfully staging the highlights along the route for spectators on the sidelines and for TV broadcasts. These include the start gate, through which all participants run at the start, and the finish gate, which is equipped with the world’s only marathon finish carpet. A total of 7,500 meters of endless tape will be installed along the course. A particular challenge here is that on the day of the event itself, there are only three hours between the closure of the roads and the start of the race to install part of the endless tape and hotspots along the route – this requires maximum efficiency in an extremely short time window.

A RECORD FOR THE GOLDEN JUBILEE
The year 2024 marked a special anniversary for the Berlin Marathon: 50 years of the marathon in the heart of the German capital. This race, which is known for its exceptionally fast course, brings together thousands of people from all over the world every year. There was an extensive program to mark the anniversary - from an impressive opening ceremony and concerts to the Sports Community Convention and a pop-up exhibition on Pariser Platz, which told the fascinating story of the marathon. A new record was also set: With a total of 54,280 participants crossing the finish line, an unprecedented milestone was reached!
