The 54th Biathlon World Championships are currently taking place in the Czech Republic, and Nové Mesto is proudly hosting this prestigious event for the second time since 2013.

With the recently modernized biathlon stadium, the Vysocina Arena offers space for 14,000 enthusiastic spectators who follow the 12 disciplines with great interest. In addition, another 20,000 fans can cheer on the athletes along the routes and support their favorite stars.

The opening ceremony impressed with a rousing acrobat show and a flag parade, with the talented singer Ewa Farna providing the perfect musical backdrop.

In the run-up to the event, the German ski hunters were seen as potential medal contenders and their performances in the World Cup gave rise to hopes of exciting competitions. Yesterday the time had finally come: Janina Hettich-Walz secured second place on the podium in a thrilling women’s individual race with flawless shooting and an impressive running performance. Two German athletes also took fourth and fifth place. The medal hunt continued yesterday when German athlete Benedikt Doll won bronze in the 20-kilometer individual race.
