The two winners of the two DFB Cup semi-finals must be thinking the same thing.
After 1 FC Saarbrücken made football history again in March by knocking a Bundesliga club out of the competition, the eagerly awaited semi-finals were played over the last two days. Saarbrücken’s clash, or rather derby, against 1 FC Kaiserslautern at their home stadium took place on Tuesday, while yesterday’s match between Leverkusen and Düsseldorf was a thriller.

It was FCS’s fifth time ever in the semi-finals of the cup – but, as in previous years, the semi-finals were the end of the line. FC Kaiserslautern came out on top with a 2-0 win and are now on the verge of their 3rd cup victory since 1996.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen deservedly beat second-division side Fortuna Düsseldorf 4-0 to keep their chances of winning the treble alive.
This result promises a highly exciting cup final on 25 May in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. For us as a branding & signage supplier, it also represents the highlight of a captivating cup season and we are looking forward to this date just as much as the teams.
