SV Wehen 1926 Wiesbaden GmbH and SC Preußen Münster were allowed to compete against Germany’s top clubs in the DFB Cup yesterday and the day before yesterday!
Following RB Leipzig’s impressive victory over FC Bayern Munich in the DFL German Football League Supercup, the two Bundesliga clubs were now also in the starting blocks for their catch-up matches in the first round of the DFB Cup.
SV Wehen Wiesbaden and Münster both failed to qualify for the DFB Cup last season. It was therefore all the more exciting to welcome the strongest teams to their own stadiums.
Despite a great effort, Preußen Münster were clearly beaten 4:0 by the record champions from Munich.
Meanwhile, a real cup fight awaited us in Wiesbaden under the best floodlight conditions. Wehen Wiesbaden made it very difficult for reigning cup winners RB Leipzig and at least managed to snatch a 2:3 final result.
APA also staged these matches appropriately for the spectators and TV and is already looking forward to next Sunday, when the matches for the 2nd preliminary round will be drawn at the Football Museum in Dortmund!
