Today, the German women’s national team welcomed an opposing team onto German turf for the first time since the World Cup in Australia. Our DFB women faced the team from Iceland at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion in Bochum and delivered a highly exciting match. After last week’s 2:0 defeat against Denmark, a result was needed to restore confidence! And much more importantly: a victory that will secure the ticket for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

After an impressive performance, the German women’s national team secured a well-deserved 4:0 victory against the team from Iceland.

Good combinations, goals worth seeing and a team that really wanted this win

This match was part of the new UEFA Women’s Nations League, whose matches can serve as qualifying rounds for the European Championship, the World Cup or the Olympic Games. The finalists of this two-year international competition automatically qualify for the 2024 Olympic Football Tournament in Paris.

APA has also equipped this match for the TV broadcast and is already looking forward to the upcoming international match against Wales in October.
