The 49th BMW Group BerlinMarathon was once again a complete success this year.
The runners and skaters from 120 nations passed Berlin’s iconic landmarks on the course, which is considered flat and breathtakingly fast – a sightseeing tour full of adrenaline. A gigantic crowd of around one million cheering spectators follows the route to cheer the athletes on their way.
The absolute highlight happened last year when Eliud Kipchoge broke his own world record by 30 seconds. But this year the marathon star from Kenya went one better with his victory, becoming the first runner ever to win the Berlin Marathon for the 5th time.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Ethiopian Tigst Assefa beat the previous women’s marathon world record by more than two minutes. What a spectacle!
For the spectators on site as well as the live TV broadcast on Eurosport and RBB, we were able to stage the event perfectly with APA using our branding & signage and are already looking forward to the next marathon in 2024.
